Women in Construction

The construction industry has been building an increasingly diverse workforce particularly through programs and initiatives focusing on women in construction and the trades. Initiatives such as Manitoba Women in Construction, a Winnipeg Construction Association Initiative and the Manitoba Construction Sector Council’s efforts that supports the entry and advancement of women in the construction sector by offering supports for both women and their employers continues to grow.

Alignment between these efforts, in partnership with the private sector, share a common goal of supporting, educating and mentoring women in construction. The collective commitment to increasing the representation and retention of women in the industry and providing a voice for women in the construction industry contribute to the pipeline of skilled labour critical for the industry.

The Manitoba Construction Sector Council supports the entry and advancement of women in the construction sector by offering supports for both women and their employers, such as mentorship programs, workshops and conferences focused on issues faced by women working in construction, and quarterly roundtables for women in construction to share, support, and provide education and skill development.

Tractus Projects is an active supporter for creating more opportunities for women in construction through its Manitoba Women in Construction Silver sponsorship and the support for provincial wide training and programming for women through the leadership of the Manitoba Construction Sector Council.
