The River Heights Arena is a landmark in the community. Since Jaret lives in the area, it was a project close to his heart. The arena desperately needed an upgrade to their hockey boards and safety glass.
Tractus was contracted to do a full design and build. The biggest challenge was working with old infrastructure from the 1960s. To make this project perform, we needed to create a new, deeper foundation for the new hockey boards to sit on. With Winnipeg’s extreme weather conditions, foundation heaving and contracting caused the existing boards to warp—not an ideal situation for the game of hockey.
This feel-good project ended with an official first skate on January 1, 2022. What a great way to start the year!
