St. James Tap & Table

Located at 2609 Portage Ave, the St. James Tap & Table is a 7,000 sq. ft. restaurant, bar, pub and nightclub. It’s a lot of things really, which was a challenge. With such a large space and separate cohesive areas, it all needed to mix, meld and work together.

We worked together with the fantastic designers from ADI group, and both mechanical and electrical was designed and built by us. One of our larger projects of 2014, this was a 16-week renovation including demo, carpentry, steel stud framing, drywall and ceilings, doors, washrooms, electrical, glass, flooring, ceramics, painting and millwork.

The kitchen was pretty intense on its own. It was completely brand new including rough-ins, plumbing, gas, drainage and sewer. We basically gutted the place and started fresh, and we couldn’t be happier with the result.

Challenge

A large-scale renovation on a limited budget.

Solution

We built around the budget, which was key. We were able to really come together as a team and pool our collective knowledge and creativity to make the right recommendations to keep costs tight. One example is saving the existing ductwork to cut costs.
